  1.        Euskal Party II - Report

  4.     To  live in Spain is quite annoying
  5. for  christmas,  when  every  scener is
  6. planning  to  go  to  the  Party  IV in
  7. Denmark  and you take a look at the map
  8. and  you  can  see the looong travel to
  9. get  there  from  Spain.  If you have a
  10. lot of money, you can afford a fly, but
  11. what if you haven't enough?
  12.  
  13.     Here  comes  the  Euskal  Party  to
  14. solve your problems!  It's a Party held
  15. here,  in Spain, in the same dates than
  16. the  Danish one.  We have no big groups
  17. or releases, but it's very good anyway.
  18.  
  19.     The   party  started  the  27th  of
  20. December,  and  I got greatly surprised
  21. when   I  saw  the  good  organization.
  22. There were a BIG screen (4 x 5 metres),
  23. and  also  a very good sound equipement
  24. to  hear  the mods competitions and the
  25. tunes from the demos.  It sounds pretty
  26. nice, and many friends of mine who were
  27. at  the Party III the last year told me
  28. that  our  equip  was  better  than the
  29. Danish  party  one.   I don't know as I
  30. haven't  been  at the Party III, but it
  31. really sounded nice.

  33.     Over  300 people got there, even if
  34. the  30th  of December was ment to be a
  35. transports strike and many of us didn't
  36. know how to get home after the close of
  37. the party.
  38.  
  39.     There  were  four conferences about
  40. the  piracy,  the  Amiga's  future, the
  41. internet  and  the  asociations, all of
  42. them  really  interestings,  and we got
  43. covered   by   the  whole  comunication
  44. world,  I  mean,  the  local  Tv made a
  45. report,  the  national Tv made a report
  46. too,  and  we got two full pages of the
  47. newspaper  all  the  three  days of the
  48. party.  It was normal to turn on the Tv
  49. and hear sentences like:  "The Amiga is
  50. the  best  computer  arround the world"
  51. and so on...
  52.  
  53.     Even  in  the  contributions to the
  54. party  were  only  a  few, I got stoned
  55. when  I  saw the amount of groups there
  56. who  were  planning  to  make something
  57. like  demos,  intros, etc...  because I
  58. thought that in Spain only Darkness and
  59. us were the only ones interested in the
  60. scene.    Also  there  were  a  lot  of
  61. independant    talented    people.    I
  62. remember  in  special  a  group  called
  63. Goblins  who had a quite good demo, but
  64. they didn't release it because of a bug
  65. with the fast Ram.

  67.     We  felt  the  fault of groups like
  68. Metro,  whose  graphician is almost the
  69. best in Spain (it's about opinions), or
  70. Batman  Group,  who  have done a really
  71. stunning  demo in the Southern Party I,
  72. but there were good productions anyway.
  73. We,  Necropolis,  released a nine disks
  74. demo  which run only from hard disk and
  75. needs  6  Mb of Ram (as the party rules
  76. said, we were able to use a 1200 HD and
  77. 6  Mb,  with  a maximum demo size of 10
  78. DSDD  disks)  and a little 70 kb intro,
  79. but  I  think the best of the party was
  80. the intro In Progress, of Darkness and,
  81. giving  appart  the scene, the dance of
  82. Estrayk/Darkness when he noticed he got
  83. the first (draw) price.

  85.     The  party was dressed up with more
  86. things  like  fast  compos  (music  and
  87. graphics 2d and 3d), but there were not
  88. too  much  participations,  as the fast
  89. coding compo could not get held because
  90. of lack of participants.

  92.     Over 2000$ were given in prices and
  93. also some funny things like "chapelas",
  94. a  fun local hat which have about 40 cm
  95. of  diametre,  so  you  can imagine the
  96. winners of the prices with them...  he,
  97. he...
  98.  
  99.     Until  now,  all the Spanish partys
  100. had   a   really   heavy  problem,  the
  101. deficient  organization,  but  this was
  102. the  most  organizated party in which I
  103. have been, and I don't know how are the
  104. ones  abroad,  but this is really worth
  105. the travel.

  107.     So,  if  you feel tired of going to
  108. Denmark next year in Christmas, you can
  109. think  about  coming to the next Euskal
  110. Party, and maybe you won't see a lot of
  111. high  quality  productions,  but you'll
  112. get a lot of fun for sure!
